Our customers have made memories in my restaurant. I consider myself lucky to have been given the opportunity to share all of this with you. I genuinely thank every single customer that has walked through my doors since 1995. I would also like to extend a thank you to all of my distributors, sales people, book keepers, lawyers, bankers, cleaners, electricians, plumbers, builders, contractors and anyone that has helped us out over the years. My children Jennifer and Christopher helped not only by working but sacrificing there own wants and needs. All my past employees contributed greatly through the years. I truly acknowledge that their hard work and dedication contributed to my success. That kind of loyalty is incredibly rare these days.

Mark, Manuel, Leah, Tammy, Stephanie, Carolyn, Krystal, Frank, James, Logan, Chris, Mary, Maggie, Angie, Mac, Ari, Jesus, Kevin, kiona, Cody, Michael, Jed, Rom, Romon, Dylan and everyone else through the years. Most of whom have stayed with me for 10 + years. I come from a family of restaurateurs and I am proud to close my doors knowing that our long living family traditions have sprouted throughout our community and will live on for many years to come. We will miss you all and will treasure all of the moments spent together. From the bottom of my heart i want to genuinely thank you all for your patronage at Bambino's Restaurant. Thank you to all the local communities and surrounding areas that enjoyed my food for the last 22 years. Saying goodbye is a hard thing to do to loyal customers. With a heavy heart I announce my next stage in life is to close Bambino's Restaurant effective July 1st 2017. She added that while classic dishes such as fried chicken, meatloaf, and shrimp and grits will always have a home on Bubba’s menu, she hopes to add lighter fare as we head into summer. “ have been reaching out to local farmers to obtain their produce calendars, and we intend to include these ingredients whenever we can during the growing season.” “I’m looking forward to collaborating with our sous-chefs on seasonal menus,” she said. I asked Oberender, who most recently has been head chef of Gateway Market, what changes she had in mind for Bubba’s kitchen. The dinner featured seven courses by seven local chefs, and Oberender’s course, the Dr Pepper-braised short ribs entree, stood its ground amid the finely tuned work of even the more experienced chefs participating that night, including Baru 66’s David Baruthio and Splash’s Dom Iannarelli.

I tasted her work at the association’s “Culinary Affair” earlier this month. That said, it has Italian influences given its menu creator is the same as Centro, South Union.Courtney Oberender will take over the kitchen as executive chef later this month.Ī rising star, Oberender was named the Iowa Restaurant Association’s Chef of the Year in 2016. Love the old firestation transformed into a restaurant but it is not Italian. The opposite of Lucca so I wouldn't try comparing the two. It is a great place if you're into more traditional Italian food.Ĭentro is one of my fav's, but it is loud and huge helpings. I too am not a big fan of Latin King fan, but that is a me thing because I like sweeter, more Americanized sauces. Cafe di Scala is a little less expensive and a bit more "mainstream" (comparitively speaking), so it is a "safer" bet if you're wanting the quiet, unique, setting. Great date place and yes, it will cost you. Lucca is wonderful.if that is the experience you're after. That is not what these are intended to be, so really not fair to compare to Latin King or Centro. Lucca and Cafe di Scala are great places, but not if you're looking for huge menus and large portions.
